For that reason, Google introduced a Hangout, a unified messaging service that will replace Google Talk, Google+ Messenger, and Google+ Hangout video chat.

As quoted from The Verge, Hangout itself shaped messaging application, similar to WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger is a direct competitor. Facing this competition, Hangoout rely on a number of uniqueness.

Unlike instant messaging applications in general, Hangout not display the contact list, but a list of the most recent conversations. Each conversation can be named as a chat room, can also be added to the label in the form of images from Google emoji collection.

Contact list itself remains available. Users only need to swiping a finger to the left of the screen to see it.

Hangout save a conversation on the Google cloud so that the network messages, including photographs, can still be seen until many years later.

"Of course, there is an option to delete the history, but the ability of (storage) this is an awesome thing," said Google Senior Vice President of Engineering Vic Gundotra when introducing Hangouts in the Google I / O Conference, Wednesday (15/05/2013) night.

Another advantage is that the user can send messages to friends anytime they want, even if the people who are targeted are not connected to the network.

Such services with similar names in Google+, Hangouts app also offers video call which can be done simultaneously by 10 users at once.
